Our Founding Team
Peter Istvanffy
Peter Istvanffy is the CEO and Co-Founder of Newbridge College. Prior to co-founding Newbridge, Peter served as President & CEO of Calgary Academy (1985 to 2017) an independent school for exceptional and collegiate learners. Peter was also part of the founding team of the Edge School for Athletes and CEO of Tanbridge Academy – two of Calgary’s top independent schools. Internationally, Peter has consulted on the development of independent and charter schools across the United States, including multiple charter schools for disadvantaged inner city youth in the USA NE.
Peter is a widely recognized as a pre-eminent thinker and leader in the K-12 education space. His innovative education programs, schools, solutions, services, and products have been trusted by 1000’s of learners and their families, globally.
His desire for founding Newbridge is personal - he has young grandkids who are entering the education system for the first time, and he wanted to build a school that would prepare them for today’s rapidly evolving and demanding environment.
Peter and his team started the development of the Newbridge concept in the mid-2010’s. After 10 years of research, designing, testing, piloting, and validating the concept in schools and markets across Canada and the US, we are now ready to bring this exciting new learning experience to life in Calgary, where the journey started, as it’s own independent school.
Backed by the immense time and effort put into designing and validating the Newbridge Experience - in addition to Peter’s extensive independent school operating experience and 21st century educational development capabilities - Parents and Families should be confident that Newbridge College will prepare their young people to be the problem solving, critical thinking, resilient, creative, and collaborative leaders that our country and world need.
